When mapping your value stream, wouldn't it be nice to have all the typically used symbols right in front of your eyes? Value Stream Mapping (or VSM) is one of the most used techniques in Lean Manufacturing. And particularly in just-in-time initiatives, it has proven its power in grasping the current state, and in designing the future or target state for a facility, or maybe just a segment of the value stream.
This template can be printed and put on the wall of your project room or obeya, and used in team sessions. It has a title area for some metadata, all the typical VSM symbols on the left, and space for inventory data, a lead time ladder, and value-add time (to determine the process efficiency ratio) on the bottom side of the sheet.
